ABOUT JON ZION
I love to work with high-school students and help them become better writers! Whether the challenge involves class writing assignments or ACT, SAT, and college-application essays, teachers, parents, and students have valued my assistance.
BACKGROUND: A Northwestern University art history graduate, I minored in English literature and later dabbled in calligraphy, import-export management, and stay-at-home parenting. For more than two decades, I worked overseas and in the U.S. as a writer and editor in the fields of publishing, international business, and website development— including stints with the Association of American Publishers and the now-defunct New Outlook magazine. Since 2004, when not tutoring privately, I've been the writing instructor at highly-regarded Young's Test Prep on Long Island. Having spent most of my childhood in the New York metro area, I'm pleased—together with my wife, a college professor—to raise our two teenage sons between the Hudson River and the Long Island Sound.

PHILOSOPHY: Guided learning in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. While aiming to bolster each student's confidence, no matter his or her skill level, I offer practical advice for improving writing skills, raising essay scores, and crafting appealing college-application essays.
